STOCKTON, Calif. – Terriell Bradley produced a career-high 40 points, and North Texas put up 33 in the opening period for the highest UNT total scored within a quarter to direct North Texas to a 92-78 win over North Dakota State Friday at the Tiger Turkey Tipoff inside the Alex G. Spanos Center. 
 
Bradley upped her previous high of 32 set last season against FIU, as the redshirt senior guard connected on 12-of-23 from the floor, including knocking down 8-of-13 from beyond the arc. The 92 points scored against the Bison (2-3, 0-0 Summit League) also occurred in the contest against FIU Feb. 18, 2018, and was the last time UNT eclipsed the 90-point scoring mark. 
 
Bradley scored 12 of her points in a four and-a-half minute span during the first quarter while the Mean Green (2-3, 0-0 C-USA) succeeded on 13 of their 19 shot attempts. At the 2:06 mark of the period, UNT had made 12 of their first 15 shots on their way to the highest-quarter total scored since last season when the Mean Green tallied 28 to open the contest against Mid-America Christian. 
 
"We have a lot of great players and great playmakers, and we had a lot of motion on offense today," Bradley said. "When I can score a few buckets in a row, and I'm feeling really good and in a rhythm, I feel like I can't miss. If we can create a balance where we are scoring efficiently on offense and can can get stops on defense, we are one of the top teams in the conference."
 
Trena Mims posted 15 points along with a game and season-high six assists, while Charlene Shepherd recorded nine points and a game-high nine rebounds. The Mean Green shot 54.8-percent for the game and were 12-of-24 on 3-pointers with the dozen made accounting for the second-highest total in the program's records, falling short to only the 13 made against FIU.
 
"Our energy was a lot different coming out today," said Head Coach Jalie Mitchell. "There was a lot of movement offensively. There was some determination. I'm proud of them for stepping up and bringing it. They knew we needed a different vibe, a different pace."
 
While Mims and Bradley accounted for 20 of UNT's first quarter points, NDSU also fared well in the beginning period by connecting on 9-of-11 from the floor. The Mean Green held a nine-point advantage heading into quarter number two before the Bison quickly cut it to seven on the opening play. A Bradley three from the left wing brought the advantage back up to 42-28 at the 6:12 mark before NDSU came within eight. Three-pointers from Bradley, Shepherd, and Grace Goodhart gave UNT their largest lead up to that point at 53-36 with 2:12 left until the half. 
 
A three from the right baseline by Mims handed the Mean Green a 60-41 lead three minutes into the third quarter before a 14-6 Bison run cut the deficit to 66-55 with 1:06 remaining. Mims hit a shot in the paint, and Bradley launched a deep three from the right wing at the quarter buzzer that found the bottom of the net to increase the lead to 71-55.
 
A layup by Anisha George and a sixth 3-pointer from Bradley stretched the lead to 76-55 in the third, and Bradley's next three with 5:43 to play upped the margin to 23 in favor of the Mean Green. Bradley converted a reverse layup and two final free throws for her career-night as UNT cruised to the victory.
 
"It was a great night for Terriell. I was told the (scoring) record was 43, and she went for it. We will try again another time," Mitchell said with a smile.
 
The Mean Green head back to the Lone Star State to play at SMU Wednesday at 7 p.m.
