A native of Cache, OK, Bryant served as an assistant under DeLong during the 2018 season with Austin Peay. 

Bryant first coached with DeLong as a student assistant at Cameron University, beginning in 2013, followed by being elevated to the graduate assistant coaching position in 2015 and remaining on the Cameron coaching staff through the spring of 2017.

During his time on the Cameron coaching staff, the Aggies posted a 138-79 overall record, including a single-season record 41 wins in 2015.

"Dillon is a loyal friend of mine and it means a lot to me when building a championship culture," head coach Rodney DeLong said. "We have experienced success the whole way and that will continue here at North Texas."

He also helped lead the program to their first two NCAA Tournament appearances in 2014, 2015.

The Aggies set 11 school offensive records, including setting marks for batting average, home runs, RBIs, runs, walks, stolen bases and slugging percentage, as well as having 12 All-Lone Star Conference, seven All-Region selections, two All-Americans and the 2015 Lone Star Conference Newcomer of the Year in 2015 during his time at Cameron.

Bryant played baseball under DeLong at Cache High School. As a senior, he hit .461 with 11 triples and helped his team to the regional finals. Bryant was named to the Large School All-State team as a second baseman.

Bryant started his college career at Seward County Community College (Kansas), where he played in 19 games and hit .333 in 39 at bats as a freshman. He helped the 2011 squad to a Jayhawk Conference championship and a trip to the JUCO World Series, where the Saints finished fifth.
