Can you manage multiple projects at the same time? If so, then a Bachelor of Science degree in Logistics and Supply Chain Management from the University of North Texas may be for you.

Logistics and supply chain management encompasses all of the activities involved in getting a product to the consumer. The field is so broad that virtually any business could be a potential employer. Some career paths include:

  • Customer service and account management
  • Inventory planning or control activities
  • Manufacturing
  • Materials handling operations
  • Purchasing and sourcing
  • Traffic or transportation management
  • Warehouse operations or management

What we offer

The Logistics program will provide you with a well- rounded, state-of-the art education using a “learn today, apply tomorrow” classroom philosophy. You will remain current on industry trends because we’ve developed the curriculum with input from:

  • The Dallas/Fort Worth Roundtable of the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals
  • The North Texas Commission's Logistics Development and Marketing Committee
  • An advisory board of 20 senior logistics executives

You also can achieve professional certification in transportation, logistics and distribution (CTLD) from the American Society of Transportation and Logistics.

Software Advice ranks our program third in the nation, and Gartner Research recently ranked us 15th among all logistics and supply chain management programs in North America. Our rankings continue to attract many large and well- known corporations to recruit UNT students.

Our faculty members are recognized teachers, researchers and leaders of professional organizations. Our faculty publish in journals such as the Journal of Business Logistics, International Journal of Logistics Management, International Journal of Physical Distribution and Logistics Management, Journal of the Operational Research Society, European Journal of Operational Research and the International Journal of Production Economy. In addition, they’ve worked in:

The Center for Logistics Education and Research works closely with senior executives to develop career placement and internship opportunities for students.

These opportunities abound because the Dallas- Fort Worth area is a national leader in distribution, transportation and logistics services. Students have interned or obtained full-time positions at more than 250 area firms.

We sponsor several scholarships to help you pursue your degree.

We also encourage you to join the Logistics Student Association, which sponsors field trips, guest speakers and an industry career fair. All of which allow you to hone your leadership skills.

What to expect

The Logistics and Supply Chain Management major requires 21 credit hours of business foundation courses, 24 credit hours of logistics and operations coursework (including the capstone course) and 9 credit hours of logistics electives. Logistics courses examine:

  • Advanced logistics problems
  • Analysis
  • Business transportation
  • Critical problem solving
  • Global logistics management
  • Strategic marketing channels

The coursework is generally conceptual in nature with analysis and numerical problem solving courses toward the end of the program. In addition, you’re required to participate in a 240-hour paid internship after completing two core courses. Paid internships are available from local firms with extensive focus on logistics and supply chain processes.

How to enroll at UNT

High school students

Detailed information on recognized high school graduation programs and SAT/ACT requirements is available at our Admissions website.

In your senior year, apply for admission by the March 1 priority date and request that your high school transcript be sent to the UNT admissions office. If you live out of stateyou can apply through the Common Application.

Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate courses can count toward college credit at UNT.

Transfer students

If you're attending a Texas community college, you should consult our online transfer guides, the UNT Undergraduate Catalog, and an academic counselor or advisor to review your degree plan. Proper planning will allow you to receive the maximum amount of transfer credits.

Our Transfer Center will help you make a successful transition to college life at UNT by connecting you with a peer mentor and other campus resources. Each year, 4,000 students transfer to UNT

The Career Center can provide advice about internships, future employment opportunities and how to get hands-on experience in your major.
