The January COACHE (The Collaborative on Academic Careers in Higher Education) Steering Committee Meeting focused on division-level results of the 2018 COACHE Survey. The Committee examined divisional results in comparison with 2018 Gallup Engagement Survey. The Committee finds consistencies across the two surveys in some areas and inconsistencies across the two surveys in others. The Committee compared the areas of 1) Overall Faculty Engagement, 2) Facilities and Resources, and 3) Recognition and Appreciation. The committee is exploring differences and similarities in specific colleges surrounding these three areas. Faculty members in all divisions express concerns about Recognition and Appreciation. The Steering Community will present full findings for the division analysis at the Deans' Council Meeting on March 21.

In the meantime, the COACHE Steering Committee continues to discuss the following areas:

Workload equity particularly in relation to lecturers.

Parental/Family leave policy.

Discovery Park Faculty's feeling of isolation and concerns about facilities.

Work life balance: (Work Life Balance Workshop is scheduled for February 1, 2019). The Committee also discussed the possibility of incentivizing work life program participation with wellness benefits.
