RCR Training and Resources

Online Training

The online training program provided through CITI meets the minimum training requirements for undergraduate researchers, and the RCR training requirement for those on funded projects through the NSF and the USDA. When a researcher completes the CITI training, they should save their completion certificate and provide it to their PI or file it as proof of training completion, should the funding agency ever request proof of training. The training completion certificate can also be obtained from the CITI website at any time. A comprehensive score of at least 80% is required.

The CITI RCR training program covers the following topics:

  • Authorship
  • Collaborative Research
  • Conflicts of Interest
  • Data Management
  • Financial Responsibility
  • Mentoring
  • Peer Review
  • Plagiarism
  • Research Involving Human Subjects
  • Research Misconduct
  • Using Animal Subjects in Research

The CITI program also offers several other modules that cover some of these topics in more depth, but for the RCR Training requirement, the UNT RCR Basic Course is the only one required at this time. Instructions on signing up for CITI and completing the RCR module is available here.

Face-to-Face Instructional Courses

In addition to the CITI online RCR courses, researchers have the opportunity to receive face-to-face instruction in RCR through campus workshops and one-on-one courses provided by the Office of Research Integrity and Compliance. Researchers are encouraged to speak with the ORIC if interested in face-to-face instructional courses.

 Additional Training Opportunities

The UNT Toulouse Graduate School also offers Professional Development workshops. Please consult the workshop schedule for additional RCR Training.
