Quiz Bowl

Quiz Bowl Tournament
Fall 2018 - Friday, November 16 through Saturday, November 17
Location: Business Leadership Building (BLB)

Think you're smart? Student Activities is hosting the 7th Annual Quiz Bowl tournament on Friday, November 16 (approximately 4-8PM) and Saturday, November 17 (approximately 9AM-4PM), where teams of four compete in a question-and-answer game of general knowledge and quick recall. Game questions cover a range of topics from history and science to sports and popular culture. Quiz Bowl is free to participate.

Teams

UNT students may register as a team (no limit; however, only four may play at a time), or as an individual. Individuals will be placed on a "free agent team" with other individuals. There may be no more than one graduate student per team. 

Deadlines 

The deadline for registration has been extended to Thursday, November 8th at 11pm, or until 16 teams sign up, whichever comes first.

There will be a mandatory Captains Meeting on November 13th from 4-5PM in Wooten Hall 213. A representative from your team or assigned team, preferably the Captain, must be present at this meeting. 

Winning team will receive $200 worth of prizes!

Volunteers 

In order for this event to be successful, we are looking for UNT Faculty, Staff, and students to volunteer at the event in a variety of roles, from moderating to scorekeeping.  Below we have provided a list of volunteer positions and descriptions. 

Volunteer Registration - Closed

Volunteer Position Descriptions

  • Moderator - needs to be able to speak quickly and clearly and to understand all of the rules of the game and apply them.

  • Judge - needs to be able to quickly evaluate the correctness of answers.

  • Scorekeeper - keeps the official score of the game.

  • Reset/Timer/Announcer - needs to have fast reflexes and be able to speak clearly and loudly.

  • Scoreboarder - needs to be able to compute figures mentally while standing at the scoreboard and writing legibly.

  • Non-Game Officials/Other - individuals in this category have a variety of volunteer opportunities including escorting teams to game area, updating tournament bracket, swiping ID card, and much more.

There will be a mandatory Volunteer Training on Wednesday, November 14th from 4-5PM in BLB 245.
