  • The North Texas softball team has announced it will host three charity games for the 2011 season. For the fourth straight season, the Mean Green will hold a Play for Kay Game, benefiting DFW's Leukemia Lymphoma Society, and a Strikeout Cancer Game. North Texas will also host a third charity game on March 30 to raise money and awareness for th...e Wounded Warrior Project. With all three games, the softball program will sell t-shirts and accept donations at the entrance in lieu of admission. The Play For Kay Game is set for Wednesday, March 9 in a doubleheader at 2 p.m. against Missouri State. In its fourth year, the charity game is named on behalf of Kay Johnson, a North Texas employee who is in remission from leukemia. Buy your t-shirt now!   • DENTON(12/3/10) -- Five high school seniors have signed National Letters of Intent to play softball at the University of North Texas for the 2011-12 season, announced head coach T.J. Hubbard on Friday. "We are excited to announce another talented group of signees for the 2011 graduating class and even more excited to add three more local DFW ...athletes," said Hubbard. "These young ladies will be able to contribute immediately as we look to continue our steady climb of success. This group specifically represents the most talented defensive signing class to date with two solid corner infielders, one speedy outfielder, an exceptional catcher and one outstanding pitcher. Each of these signees are exceptional students and accomplished athletes, and we are honored to have them joining our program next fall."   • DENTON, Texas (11/1/10) - The University of North Texas has announced its 2011 softball schedule which features two home tournaments and games against nine teams that played in lastyear s NCAA Tournament.Under head coach T.J. Hubbard, the Mean Green has 24 home dates in 2011, including the three-day, five-team Sleep Inn Classic in February. The... five-team tournament includes Nebraska, who advanced to the NCAA Tournament last year. The Mean Green is also hosting the Courtyard Classic, a three-day, six-team tournament, in March. We are excited to have another strong schedule of Big 12 schools and to be facing Nebraska and Missouri for the firsttime, said head coach T.J. Hubbard.   • All the pieces began to fall in place for the 2010 North Texas softball team. The hitting, pitching, defense and bits of luck all came together for the Mean Green as the squad recorded the best season in school history. The only thing that did not go the Mean Green's way was the weather.

  • Mobile, Ala. (5/14/10) - The North Texas softball team could not get past Troy, falling to the Trojans, 2-1, in day three action at the Sun Belt Conference Tournament at Jaguar Field. The Troy Trojans beat the Mean Green twice in the tournament, eliminating North Texas with the second loss.
