TEXARKANA, Ark. – Freshman Lenny Bergsson shot a 1-under 71 in Round 2 to cap off a 36-hole day at the Conference USA Championship to put himself at 1-under par for the tournament and in a tie for 10th place heading into Tuesday's final round while leading the way for a North Texas team that is still within striking distance of a spot in the match play tournament to claim the conference championship.
 
UNT is in 10th place at 19-over par, while fourth-place Middle Tennessee is 5-over. The top four teams advance to the match play tournament after the completion of the first three rounds of play. The schedule was accelerated due to expected inclement weather later in the week, which is why teams played 36 holes on Monday. There is a chance match play semifinals, with the top four teams, will be played Tuesday after the completion of the final round.
 
"Tomorrow we need to stop making silly mistakes and play some solid golf," UNT coach Brad Stracke said. "I know we are more than capable of making a run during the final round."
 
Behind Bergsson, UNT was led by sophomore Viktor Forslund, who eagled 16 and birdied 18 in the second round to go to 3-over for the tournament and put himself in a tie for 23rd.
 
The Mean Green will tee off from Hole 10 on Tuesday morning at 8 a.m., and will be paired with Louisiana Tech and Southern Mississippi.
