HATTIESBURG, MS – It is almost becoming routine for the North Texas volleyball team.

The Mean Green (13-15, 9-3) dispatched of Southern Mississippi on the road in straight-sets (25-21, 25-17, 25-19) to win its fifth straight match. In the winning streak North Texas has won four matches in sweeps, and has currently won 10 sets in a row.

"We need to keep focusing on what we're doing well," head coach Andrew Palileo said.

North Texas was the dominate team of the afternoon as Southern Miss (14-13, 6-6) only found itself leading in the third set and momentarily. The Golden Eagles struggled to hit the ball well.

Southern Miss finished with 22 attacking errors on 114 total attacks. The home team hit at just a .123 clip while North Texas checked in at a near .200 mark. The Mean Green only committed 15 errors in a balanced offensive effort.

"[Karley York] did a good job," Palileo said. "She did well spreading the ball around today which created some seams. Our defense was pretty good at defending their outsides which is a big focus whenever your play them."

Sophomore Barbara Teakell had eight kills tying with senior Jordyn Williams for the team lead. Freshman Rhett Robinson had seven kills along with sophomore Valerie Valerian who had seven as well. Valerian checked in with 10 digs of her own.

Senior Karley York finished with 28 assists to push her to 1,002 on the season making her eclipse 1,000 in back-to-back seasons. York finished with a double-double after getting 12 digs.

The Mean Green finish the year 5-8 on the road overall but 5-2 away from home in conference play. North Texas improves to 8-10 in three-set matches as the final weekend of the season approaches.

North Texas will end the year at home this weekend.

"We need to keep focusing," Palileo said. "We need to keep focusing on what we are doing well by maintaining it. We need to clean up some things we were loose on today."
