Food Safety

The University of North Texas is committed to the protection of food consumers on our campus. The Food Safety Program is designed to promote the safe and sanitary preparation of food and prevention of foodborne illness.  The goal of the program is to provide proper inspection of permanent and temporary food facilities and provide consultation and/or approval for temporary food events to UNT organizations, departments, and third-party vendors.

The Risk Management Services Registered Sanitarian, ensures UNT’s compliance with the Texas Food Establishment Rules and provides guidance and support in reporting alleged outbreaks of foodborne illness on UNT property. The RS provides consultation to the UNT community in safe food handling techniques and serves as the primary resource for the UNT community regarding current information on food safety issues and foodborne illness prevention.
