The mission of the Pediatric Movement and Physical Activity Laboratory is to positively influence the physical activity engagement of school-aged children and thus, improve the health of students. This is accomplished through empirical research, increasing public awareness and policy advocacy on issues related to school-based physical activity intervention, physical activity and physical fitness measurement, motor skill assessment, psychosocial health, and childhood obesity.

The major focus of our Pediatric Movement and Physical Activity Laboratory at UNT is on the research and development of innovative approaches to P-12 physical activity/education to help school-aged children develop health-related knowledge and skills. The Department of Kinesiology, Health Promotion and Recreation offers teaching fellowships to qualified graduate students. The Graduate School offers Robert Toulouse fellowship to qualified graduate students on a very competitive basis. For more information about the Ph.D. Program in Sport Pedagogy, please contact program coordinator Dr. Tao Zhang.
