MIAMI – Mean Green softball's bats were unstoppable in a 13-4 win over FIU to complete the series sweep in run-rule fashion. The Mean Green (21-12, 10-2) scored 13 runs on 16 hits, scoring in each of the five innings.

Bailey Tindell got the start going two innings allowing three runs on five hits striking out one before making way for Hope Trautwein. Trautwein allowed just three hits and a run while striking out two Golden Panthers (18-18, 0-9).

It is the second series sweep in Conference USA play for head coach Rodney DeLong and crew.

"It's what we needed to do," DeLong said. "It's good we didn't give them really any life ever in that game. We kept a big lead and it's good to be able to play five-innings on a Sunday."

Harley Perella continued her big weekend going 3-for-3 with 2RBI in the series finale. Eight North Texas starters recorded a hit in the win. The lone starter to not record a hit was Jenna Goodrich, but she reached base three times drawing three walks. Lacy Gregory went 2-for-3 with two RBI as did Tayla Evans.

The Mean Green subs did well off the bench as pinch-hitters Sally Gastelo and Kourtney Williams went a combined 3-for-5 driving in three runs, Williams drove in two. The Mean Green played a clean defensive weekend committing just two errors across the three games.

"I think this is kind of how we've been defensively," DeLong said. "Every series presents different challenges. 12 games in to be 10-2 is a good feeling. This is our goal and what we want to do. So far we've given ourselves a chance."

The Mean Green return to action Wednesday on the road at Sam Houston State. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. North Texas returns home on Saturday April 6for a three-game weekend series against Saint Mary's College in a Saturday double-header. Admission is free for Saturday.
