Travel Endorsements for J Visa Holders

J-1 Visa Holders

  • DS-2019 must be valid.
  • DS-2019 must be endorsed (signed) for travel by a Responsible Officer
    • See bottom right of DS-2019 "TRAVEL ENDORSEMENT BY RESPONSIBLE OFFICER." 
    • Check block #2 of DS-2019 to view name of sponsor. 
    • If sponsor is UNT, submit DS-2019 to International Student and Scholar Services along with the form requesting endorsement. 
      • Barring any complications, the form will be ready the following business day after 10 a.m.
    • If not UNT, please contact sponsor for an endorsement.
  • Endorsement is valid for one year or through the end of your program (whichever comes first).
    • Must be in valid J-1 status.

J-2 Dependents

  • DS-2019 must be valid.
  • J-1 spouse or parent must be in valid status.
  • DS-2019 must be endorsed (signed) for travel by a Responsible Officer
    • See bottom right of DS-2019 "TRAVEL ENDORSEMENT BY RESPONSIBLE OFFICER."  
    • Check block #2 of DS-2019 to view name of sponsor.  
  • If sponsor is UNT, submit DS-2019 to International Student and Scholar Services along with the form requesting endorsement.
