UNT Transfer Scholarships

UNT Transfer Scholarships are available for students transferring from a community college or an accredited university. Applicants who meet the admission priority dates for scholarship consideration will be given first consideration for scholarships based on their completed admission application and available funding. Students should ensure their most current transcripts are updated with Undergraduate Admissions.

Awards range from $1,000 to $3,000 per year based on transfer cumulative GPA.

Eligibility

  • Students transferring from a community college or an accredited university with a cumulative 3.0 transfer GPA AND a minimum of 45 attempted credit hours but less than 120 hours. Attempted hours exclude credit hours earned from AP, CLEP, military, etc.
  • Phi Theta Kappa members: Congratulations on your honor society recognition! As a PTK member, you are eligible for this scholarship if you have a cumulative 3.0 transfer GPA AND a minimum of 45 attempted credit hours but less than 120 hours. Attempted hours exclude credit hours earned from AP, CLEP, military, etc.
  • International students that are admitted as new transfer students are also considered for these scholarships, based on the required cumulative GPA noted.

Scholarship Consideration Information

  • Many students compete for available scholarships, which are made based on merit and on a first-come, first-served basis to students enrolling in the fall term.
  • UNT's Scholarships are competitive and commitments made by external organizations (including PTK) regarding scholarship eligibility are not considered in the awarding process.
  • Scholarship criteria are nonnegotiable and subject to change.
  • Students eligible for multiple scholarship opportunities will receive the most beneficial award. Receipt of multiple awards is limited by funding available.
  • University of North Texas Scholarships administered by Student Financial Aid & Scholarships (SFAS) are funded through tuition revenue. As such, enrollment is required to receive the scholarships and disbursements are applied to tuition/fees for all recipients.

Additional Information

UNT Transfer Scholarship awards may have the potential to be renewed for students meeting specific GPA requirements in addition to meeting continuing eligibility requirements. Award terms, including renewal information will be provided to the student if an official scholarship offer is extended.

Non-Texas residents assessed non-resident tuition receiving this competitive scholarship would be assessed tuition costs at the in-state rate for the fall, spring, and the following summer terms. Students receiving a competitive scholarship wavier of non-resident tuition must complete Selective Service registration, according to applicable Texas Education Code 51.9095. Non-Texas residents residing outside of Texas and only enrolled in online courses should contact their major department for specifics regarding tuition charges.
