Walters joined North Texas in 2018, moving across Denton from Texas Woman's University, where she served as the Assistant Director of Athletics for Communications.

Before her stint at TWU, Walters was an Associate Athletic Director and Senior Woman Administrator at Lubbock Christian University. Prior to that, she was a sports information graduate assistant at Cumberland University in Lebanon, Tenn., while completing a masters degree in business administration.

Walters worked in sales for the Indiana Pacers of the NBA, the Minnesota Lynx of the WNBA and the Sioux Falls Skyforce of the NBA's D-League. With the Lynx, she also assisted the public relations department with releases and community events. Walters' first role in collegiate athletics came in 2011, as she served as the assistant women’s basketball coach at NCAA Div. II Pfeiffer University in Misenheimer, N.C.

The Sioux Falls, S.D., native is a former student-athlete at Black Hills State University in Spearfish, S.D., where she played basketball and was a member of the track and field team. Walters holds the school record for field goal percentage in a game and sits second in both three-point percentage in a game and free-throw percentage in a season. She is third all-time in three-point baskets made in a game as well in the top 10 for career 3-point field goal percentage and career field goal percentage. A two-time Academic All-American, Walters earned a dual business administration degree and completed a mass communications minor at BHSU following two years at the University of Northern Colorado, where she was also a member of the basketball and track and field teams.
