Williams is entering his second year at North Texas as cross country coach and assistant coach for track and field.

In his first season with the Mean Green, Williams guided Susannah Lynch and Mike Lowe to All-Region honors in 2017-18 as Lynch set a school record with a time of 20:03.6 at the NCAA South Central Regional. Five Mean Green earned All-Conference accolades while the men took fourth place and the women fifth at the Conference USA Championships. Victoria Junious was named to the 2017 Conference USA InTouch Credit Union women's cross country all-academic team.

Williams came to the Mean Green after spending two seasons at the University of Portland. The 2016-2017 year was filled with accomplishments, including a West Coast Conference title and Cross Country Nationals at-large bid for the Lady Pilots. Lauren LaRocco earned All-America and was West Coast Conference individual champion. The women also qualified six distance athletes for the NCAA West Regional Championships and two Pilots, Grace McConnochie and Taryn Rawlings, qualified for the NCAA Outdoor National Championships.

The Pilot men also had a great 2016-2017 earning an automatic bid to the NCAA Cross Country Championships where they finished 13th. The season was highlighted by five Pilots earning All-West Region honors. On the track, the Pilots qualified an athlete to the NCAA West Region in every distance event (eight total) and had a program record eight men under 30:00 for 10k (most in the NCAA). Jeff Thies and Noah Schutte both advanced to the NCAA final in their respective events earning themselves All-America honors. Junior Jeff Thies also set the school record in the 1500m multiple times.

During the 2015- 2016 season, LaRocco earned All-America honors in both the 5k and 10k leading the Lady Pilots to their highest finish at the NCAA Outdoor Track Championships. The women also earned the No. 2 overall GPA for NCAA Division I Track and Field. Senior Reid Buchanan earned All-America honors in the indoor 3k and outdoor 10k. After an incredible season where he broke three program records and achieved multiple nation leading times, senior Woody Kincaid finished eighth at the US Olympic Trials in the 5000m where he was the top collegiate finisher. Both Buchanan and Kincaid have begun successful professional careers since graduating.

As a student-athlete, Williams competed in 2008-13 at the University of Oklahoma, where he graduated with a degree in Marketing. Williams was a member of the first four teams to qualify for the NCAA Cross Country National Championships where the team had three consecutive top-ten finishes (fifth, sixth, and eighth). As a team, the Sooners were twice Midwest Regional Champions and individually Williams was a three-time All-Region placer. Williams was also team captain his senior year. On the track, Williams was a multi-time school record holder, and was all-Big 12 in four different events. He qualified for four NCAA West Regional Championships and was second team All-America in both the Indoor 5,000m and Outdoor 10,000m. The Sooners also captured their only Indoor Big 12 title in Williams’ freshman season in 2009. Williams was also the male student-athlete of the year at OU in 2013.

Williams is originally from Lakewood, Colorado, where he was a seven-time state champion for D’Evelyn High School. During his prep career, Williams qualified for the US Junior National Team in cross country and competed in the 2008 World Cross Country Championships. Williams was a 2007 Footlocker Cross Country Nationals Qualifier and earned All-America status on the track in the 3,200m at the Nike Outdoor Nationals.

Williams is married to the former Molly Ferguson, a former track and field athlete at the University of Oklahoma. Together they have one son, Thomas.
