UNT Completes Road Sweep Of Western Kentucky

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. - For the second-straight season and the third time in program history, the North Texas volleyball team toppled Western Kentucky 3-0 (25-16, 25-22, 25-23) on Friday evening at Diddle Arena.

Freshmen Rhett Robinson and Sarah Haeussler each tied their career highs with a team-high six blocks each as North Texas (9-15, 5-3 C-USA) outblocked WKU (14-9, 5-3 C-USA) 14-4.

Robinson and Haeussler each assisted on a pair of blocks in a 9-3 run to take the lead for good in set one. Senior Jordyn Williams teamed up on another block and posted a pair of kills to account for three of the last four points.

Sophomore Valerie Valerian led the team with 11 kills, erupting for seven in the second frame to help the Mean Green triumph in a set that saw 12 tie scores and four lead changes.

With the Lady Toppers leading 21-17 in the final set, North Texas closed the match on an 8-2 run, led by a pair of kills and a block by sophomore Barbara Teakell.

North Texas wraps up a three-game stretch away from home against UAB at 1 p.m. Sunday in Birmingham.
