DENTON - The North Texas tennis team's season came to an end Saturday with a 4-0 loss to the top-seed Old Dominion Monarchs in the semifinals of the Conference USA Tournament. 

The Mean Green looked good to start the match with leads on all three courts in doubles, but the veteran Monarchs battled through and came back to win the doubles point over UNT. North Texas' No. 1 doubles team led 4-1 but lost five straight games to ODU who is headed back to the finals for the second-straight year.

After losing in doubles, North Texas lost the first set on all six courts and then lost on court one, four and five to lose the match.

North Texas' Maria Kononova and Tamuna Kutubidze who entered the tournament as the No. 44 nationally ranked doubles team and top ranked team in C-USA will wait to see if they will earn a bid to the NCAA Doubles Championships in the coming weeks. Kononova and Kutubidze went 1-2 in the conference tournament.
