SADDLEBROOKE, Ariz. – The North Texas women's golf team opened the MountainView Collegiate on Friday as part of a tough field, including four top-50 teams in the GolfStat national poll.
UNT is in 12th place after one day after shooting a 10-over-par 298. The Mean Green were led by freshman
Patricia Sinolungan's 1-over 73, which put her in a tie for 27th on the individual leaderboard with two rounds remaining Saturday and Sunday.
"We had another slow start in Round 1," UNT coach
Michael Akers said. "Multiple double-bogeys really hurt us. The good news is we tend to improve each round. Our goal is to break par and move up the leaderboard."
UNT's other three scorers on Day 1 were freshman
Audrey Tan (74), senior
Sabina Pena (75) and junior
Lauren Cox (76).
