THE WOODLANDS, Texas – The North Texas women's golf team jumped two spots on the leaderboard at the ICON Invitational Tuesday at The Woodlands Country Club after completing a suspended Round 2 early Tuesday morning and playing the third round immediately after.
 
UNT finished in eighth place at 27-over par in the tournament that featured six top-50 teams nationally, and the Mean Green passed No. 46 Texas Tech in the process. UNT shot 1-under in the final round, which was the third-best final round in the field.
 
The Mean Green were led by freshman Patricia Sinolungan, who set a new mark for best individual finish as a collegiate golfer with an 11th place showing at 3-over par. She was followed up by junior Lauren Cox, who shot 5-over par to finish tied for 19th. It was Cox's fourth top-20 finish in five tournaments this year. Sabina Pena tied for 30th with the help of a 3-under-par 69 on Tuesday.

"I'm extremely pleased with our performance during the final round today," UNT coach Michael Akers said. "We always talk about owning the final round, and we did that today. To break par in the conditions that we saw today was impressive. Eighth place against this competition is respectable. We'll get back to work on Thursday preparing for Hawaii."
 
The Mean Green will be back in action March 12-13 at the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational at the Kaneohe Klipper Golf Course in Kailua, Hawaii.
