WOODBURY, Minnesota – Junior Lauren Cox entered Tuesday's final round of the Minnesota Invitational in a tie for first place, but the entire field's fortunes changed from Monday, thanks to some course changes due to wind and drier grounds at Prestwick Golf Club.

Cox struggled on the day Tuesday after firing a 69 and 68 on Monday and finished the day with an 80 to put her at 1-over par for the tournament in a tie for ninth place. It was Cox's third career top-10 finish and her first since last year's Maryb S. Kauth Invitational.

"We were certainly hoping for a better showing in the final round," UNT coach Michael Akers said. "The course completely changed, as the wind blew hard and it dried out. We struggled to adjust. Lauren was disappointed, but I told her not many players ever have 12 birdies in 36 holes and co-lead a big tournament. She has to look at the positives and build on that. Winners are built from experiences. We had some good things to build on and now we have a month to get into some details with practice and equipment adjustments."

Cox led the way for the Mean Green, which finished 11th in the 15-team field. She was followed by freshman Audrey Tan, who had a strong final round to finish in a tie for 42nd at 9-over par after shooting a team-best 3-over-par 75 on Tuesday.

UNT returns to action on Oct. 14-16 at the Maryb S. Kauth Invitational at TPC San Antonio.
