UNT In Eighth In Suspended Aggie Invite

BRYAN, Texas – The North Texas men's golf team began play on Saturday at The Aggie Invitational, the team's final tuneup before the Conference USA Championship near the end of the month.

The teams were set to play 36 holes on Saturday and 18 on Sunday, but weather delays forced the first day to be suspended before everyone had completed the opening round.

With the Mean Green's golfers through Holes 14 and 16 in Round 1, play was suspended as North Texas heads into Sunday in eighth place at 7-over par.

UNT was led on the day by sophomore Viktor Forslund and freshman Lenny Bergsson, who continued their strong play off the heels of good performances at The Hayt Invitational earlier in the week.

Forslund and Bergsson are tied for 26th at 1-under par, and both golfers still have four holes to play in the first round.

Freshman Henri Renouard and senior Jordan Sanders are tied at 4-over par.

"The team continues to improve, and we are few shots behind three nationally ranked programs in the top 12," UNT coach Brad Stracke said. "Weather hasn't been kind to us this spring, but I hope we can complete 36 holes this event."
