CARROLLTON, Texas — After leaving Day 1 of the Maridoe Intercollegiate in first place, the second day of the tournament on UNT's home course proved to be much more difficult due to windy conditions throughout the day and tougher pin placements.
 
Despite a day full of ups and downs, the Mean Green are still in second place as the entire field felt the wrath of the Maridoe Golf Club on Sunday, as UNT's 19-over par score on the day was the fifth best in the field.
 
"We are in great shape going into the final round," UNT coach Brad Stracke said. "Maridoe was playing tough for everyone today."
 
Over the course of the round, there were just a few mistakes, and senior Thomas Rosenmueller felt the brunt of it when he took a 9 on the par-4 fifth hole. The Round 1 co-leader shot a 10-over-par 80 and is now in a tie for 16th place.
 
Jordan Sanders led the way for the Mean Green on Sunday, shooting a 2-over 72 to move into a tie for fourth as only one golfer, leader Phillip Knowles of North Florida, shot a round under par on the day. He is now at even-par for the tournament.
 
Freshman Lenny Bergsson shot a 75 and is tied with Rosenmueller at 8-over for the tournament, while Kristof Ulenaers and Viktor Forslund are tied for 20th and 29th, respectively.
 
"Unfortunately, we lost focus on a few shots that cost us around 10 shots," Stracke said. "I know the guys will be refocused tomorrow and ready to compete."
 
UNT will tee off the final round Monday at 9:30 a.m., and will be paired with SMU and Texas A&M.
