Braeuer comes to the Mean Green from the College of Charleston, where he had served the last two years and helped lead the Cougars to back-to-back 25-win seasons and Colonial Athletic Association regular-season and tournament titles.

Braeuer has made multiple coaching stops before Charleston, including spending one year at Midland College from 2010-11, where he coached under now-UNT associate head coach Ross Hodge. In that season, the Chaparrals went 33-4 and reached the NJCAA Division I national championship game.

Braeuer earned a job at the University of Maryland under head coach Mark Turgeon. There, he served as the men's video coordinator and was responsible for assisting with scouting, game preparation and video analysis of practices and games.

Following his two-year stint at Maryland, Braeuer coached at Sam Houston State from 2013 through 2016. The Bearkats made back-to-back appearances in the Southland Tournament championship game and turned in 24-win and 26-win seasons. Sam Houston also earned three postseason berths to the CollegeInsider.com Tournament.

Braeuer was a three-year starting point guard at Wichita State from 2004 to 2008. Braeuer ranks in the top 15 all-time in career three-pointers made (130) and career assists (308) for the Shockers. During his playing time at Wichita, the Shockers made the NCAA Tournament and reached the Sweet Sixteen and earned a top-10 national ranking.

After earning his bachelor's degree in sport administration from Wichita, he served as a graduate assistant for the Shockers. He received his master's degree in sport management in 2010.

Braeuer is a native of Belton, Texas, and graduated from Belton High School, where he played under his father Ed. As a senior, he was named a Texas Class 5A First Team All-State and First Team All-Region selection. Braeuer also garnered MVP honors for District 13-5A.

He is married to Katie Braeuer (formerly Henderson).
