NORMAN, Okla. — The Mean Green men's basketball team saw its nation-leading 10-game win streak come to an end on Tuesday with a 73-57 loss at Oklahoma. 

North Texas (8-1) had its worst shooting performance of the year, finishing the game 19-of-69 and started the game 3-of-17 from the field.

But despite that, UNT trailed OU (6-1) by just two at halftime and took a lead three minutes into the second-half.

"We laid an egg," said head coach Grant McCasland. "McNeace for them is really physical around the rim and changed a lot of shots and made it tough. We got squeezed but we were right there but it spiraled out of control late in the second half."

The Mean Green couldn't get a pace going early in the game and couldn't do what they love to do and get out and run in the open court, attack the rim or hit three-pointers. 

 Luckily, Oklahoma couldn't do a whole lot better.

The Sooners' and the Big 12' Conference's leading scorer going into Tuesday's game, Christian James, was held to just one point in the first half and was 0-for-1 from the field. He finished with only nine points — 11 points below his season average and the first time he'd been held under 15 points in a game.

"We caught them on an off night," McCasland said. "And I liked what we did to start the second-half but just couldn't sustain it with their size and length and us not hitting shots."

Junior Ryan Woolridge who led the Mean Green in scoring. He scored seven of his 16 points in the first few minutes of the second-half by attacking the rim and finishing at the free throw line when fouled. 

After the second media timeout of the second-half, OU went on multiple 8-0 runs to extend its lead to double digits and close out the game.

Tuesday's loss ends what has been the program's best start to a season since the 1921-22 season and fell one win shy of setting the school record for best start.
