Department Information

Office Hours – 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM 

The Custodial Services department is the largest department within Facilities.  Custodial Services currently works under the management of Facilities Maintenance.  This division provides daily cleaning and sanitizing for the University classrooms, faculty and staff offices, labs, performance halls, lounges, restrooms, hallways, and stairwells. 

Normal working hours are Monday thru Friday from 12:30 am to 9:00 am.  Additionally, some staff work Monday thru Friday from 10:00 am to 6:30 pm servicing restrooms and responding to emergencies.

Custodial Services Task Frequencies

Daily: Empty waste receptacles; dust mop and spot wet mop hard floor surfaces; spot vacuum high-traffic areas; clean chalkboards and markerboards; arrange student desks; clean restrooms

Once per week: Wet mop hard surface floors; vacuum carpeted areas; clean high-traffic areas

Once per month: Spot clean walls and stalls in bathrooms; dust high-use areas; buff floors

Twice per year: Dust ceiling vents; deep scrub bathrooms with disinfectant

As needed: spot clean student desk; spot clean carpet; strip and wax hard floor surfaces; polish tile; shampoo carpets; dust blinds and ceiling vents
