Welcome to the Cancer Alliance of Texas website.

The mission of the Cancer Alliance of Texas (CAT) is to engage organizations, agencies, institutions and individuals to work collaboratively to reduce the impact of cancer in Texas and promote the Texas Cancer Plan.

The aim of CAT is to advance cooperative efforts that focus on the goals of the Texas Cancer Plan: cancer prevention, early detection and treatment, professional training, cancer data and planning, and survivorship.

The burden of cancer falls on the shoulders of individuals with a cancer diagnosis and their families and friends seeking effective treatment and support services. Cancer, in its many forms, impacts personal health and family well-being, communities, workplaces and businesses, and health care providers. Because it crosses all aspects of family and community life, it requires nothing less than a broad-based, integrated response.

Effective cancer prevention and control programs reduce the cancer burden. Collaboration among entities and individuals with expertise, resources or commitments in cancer control expands our ability to make a comprehensive response to cancer and to have the greatest impact possible in reducing its personal, emotional, social and economic costs to the citizens of Texas.
