The funding opportunities listed below have been designated by the issuing agency to (a) accept only a limited number of proposals from a single institution, (b.) to restrict the eligibility of the institution, or (c.) to restrict PI eligibility. In these cases, UNT may submit only a limited number of proposals in response to each sponsor’s call. Therefore, the Office of Research and Economic Development (ORED) conducts an internal competition in order to select the projects allowed to go forward for submission.
Instructions, application procedures and deadlines for each Limited Submission call are maintained on this Web site. Internal Limited Submission competitions are also sent to faculty through the appropriate department Chairs and/or designated college Deans or Associate Deans (CADRe). Calls for internal applications are posted and opened approximately six (6) months prior to the sponsor’s deadline. New Limited Submission calls will be posted and opened as soon as feasible.
Identification and Responsibility
ORED makes a concerted effort to track and post limited submission calls proactively. However, not all limited submission calls may be listed on this site. ORED requests that faculty notify ORED immediately if they identify such a call. ORED reserves the right to require an internal competition. It is the responsibility of the faculty member to follow the guidelines and procedures for each internal call. Please check with your department chair and college for earlier deadlines or additional submission requirements.
Selection and Notification
Internal competition proposals are normally reviewed by an ad hoc panel. The review panel’s recommendations are forwarded to the Vice President for Research for final decision. ORED reserves the right to solicit additional proposals if the pool is deemed insufficient. Applicants will be notified of their status as soon as possible (typically 2 to 3 weeks after the internal submission deadline). In consideration of applicants not selected, applicants selected to proceed are required to work with Research Development staff through a timeline-driven, guided process in order to optimize the opportunity for UNT to submit the most competitive proposal possible. Selected applicants who do not meet internal deadlines or do not submit a final proposal may be disqualified from participating in subsequent limited submission competitions.
