Summary

State law allows the UNT and UNT System's governing body to establish their holiday schedule. The holidays may be set on any days the Board chooses, but the number of holidays may not exceed the total number of days allocated by the State. Listed below are the holiday schedules approved by the Board of Regents.

NOTE: This is a policy excerpt only. Please refer to the actual policy UNT Policy No. 1.4.5 when advising or making decisions, or contact Human Resources Services at 940/565-4249.

• Only regular faculty and staff members are eligible for paid holidays.
• Regular part-time staff and faculty receive the same holidays as full-time employees, on a basis proportionate to the rate provided to full-time employees.
• A staff member can be required to work on a holiday, but shall be given alternate time off at a rate of one hour per hour worked, to be taken at a later date. The alternate time off must be taken during the 12-month period following the date of the holiday worked.
• If a holiday occurs while a staff member is on sick leave or vacation leave, it will be counted as a holiday, and not as a leave.
