Posting: Faculty Positions in Biophotonics/Nanoscale optoelectronics

The Bio/Nano-Photonics Research Cluster (BNPRC) at the University of North Texas (UNT) seeks senior level candidates for two faculty positions in the broad areas of Biophotonics and Nanoscale Optoelectronics. The two positions will be at the Professor rank but candidates at the Associate Professor level will also be considered. Candidates will be expected to have a proven track record of independently initiating a strong research program in Biophotonics and Nanophotonics, as judged by generating extramurally-funded proposals and a good publication record, that can be integrated into the mission of BNPRC, and to help support the instructional needs of one or more cluster departments at the graduate and undergraduate levels. Preference will be given to candidates with expertise in imaging, bioconjugation, and spectroscopy of biological systems; nanoscale photonic, optoelectronic, and/or biophotonic devices; or epitaxial material synthesis for device applications. A successful candidate will participate in synergistic research activities in existing facilities at UNT including the nanoscale characterization and fabrication facilities at the Center for Advanced Research and Technology (CART); the new UNT clean room facility and Technology Incubator currently under construction; and nanoscale and ultrafast optical characterization facilities, including near-field scanning and femtosecond time-resolved spectroscopy, and optical microscopy using confocal fluorescence and Raman microscopy. The candidate will interact with current faculty in the Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, Mechanical & Energy Engineering, and Physics.
