Goal
Open the world of materials engineering and nanotechnology to enthusiastic high school students. Participating students will have the opportunity to gain hands on experience with the high-tech tools researcher's use today to create the materials of tomorrow.

The Students Will...

  • STUDY the latest materials using advanced microscopes
  • LEARN how to change the behavior of materials used in structural and engineered systems by controlled heating with high temperature furnaces, and cooling with liquid nitrogen
  • MELT and manufacture materials using lasers, plasmas, and furnaces
  • UNDERSTAND how and why materials fail through destructive testing
  • FOLLOW the transformation of the first computer to the ultra small laptops of today
  • GENERATE power with renewable resources by exploiting unique material properties

Location
The University of North Texas College of Engineering at Discovery Park

Fees
FREE for students! All meals and snacks will be provided. Student will also receive a camp T-shirt and keepsake to remember their experience.

Eligibility
Students graduating high school in the spring of 2012 or 2013 will be eligible.
