Graduation

After lots of hard work, graduation is quickly approaching for many of you. To graduate, you will need to complete the application steps listed below.

Applying for Graduation

It is the responsibility of the student to file the appropriate graduate degree applications with the Toulouse Graduate School. All application materials should be submitted to the Graduate School early in the semester. (See deadlines below.) Your completed application will include:

  1. Graduation Application. Login and apply to graduate online.
  2. Approved Degree Plan from your Department (Copy). Submit this to the Toulouse Graduate School office or email electronic copy to graduation@unt.edu.
  3. UNT Graduating Student Survey
  4. Survey of Earned Doctorates (Doctoral Students only). [Mac users:  Open the form in Adobe Acrobat and use the “save via email” link at the bottom.]

Your graduation application will only be accepted if you have a current 3.00 overall GPA and an approved degree plan on file with the Toulouse Graduate School.

Please do not submit more than one application per degree; if you need to make a correction or add information, please send a separate email to graduation@unt.edu.

If you are pursuing more than one degree, you will need to submit a separate application for each degree. The major you select on the application needs to match the degree you are seeking (for example, if you are in both a PhD program and an MS program and are applying to graduate with the MS, the major you select should be for the MS, not the PhD.)

Miss The Thesis/Dissertation Submission Deadline for Summer 2011 Graduation?

If you applied for Summer 2011 graduation but did not submit a thesis/dissertation by the June 24th deadline, your application will be forwarded and processed for Fall 2011 graduation.

If you submit the electronic and hard copies of the defended paper and abstract, and a signed Final Defense Form by Aug. 5, 2011, you will earn an exemption from the requirement of 5950/6950 thesis/dissertation enrollment for Fall 2011. After this date, enrollment in 5950/6950 will be required during the Fall 2011 semester.

International students must verify enrollment requirements relating to immigration/Visa status with International Advising. Government regulations/requirements override this option.

Graduation Fees

Appropriate fees will be posted to your student account when your application is downloaded for entry/review. This may take up to 10-14 days; you will receive an email from graduation@unt.edu when the fees are ready for you to pay. If you prefer to pay prior to this, you may go in person to the Student Accounting Cashier windows on the ground floor of the Eagle Student Services Center and ask to have the fees posted to your account. Fees are due when posted, so please do not delay making your payment.

Master’s Degree: No fees
Master’s Degree & Thesis: $20 archiving, $25 microfilming
Doctoral Degree & Dissertation: $20 archiving, $25 microfilming

A $25 late processing fee will apply to all applications received after the first deadline as listed above.

Students who wish to take advantage of additional ProQuest services (such as ProQuest's "Open Access" publishing option) will need to pay any additional fees directly to ProQuest.
