Job Summary/Basic Function:
The Department of Physics at UNT seeks to fill the position of Department Chair with an anticipated start date of September 1, 2011. The Chair is expected to manage the Department's administrative functions, curricula, budget, facilities, research, recruiting and outreach. Candidates are expected to have a track record of scholarly work commensurate with appointment at a tenured Full Professor level. The successful candidate is expected to participate in externally funded research involving graduate students, interact with existing research groups on campus and demonstrate a commitment to undergraduate and graduate teaching in the Physics Department.
Minimum Qualifications:
An earned doctorate at time of application in Physics or closely related field with a record of academic and research accomplishments are required for the position.
Preferred Qualifications:
Preference will be given to candidates with strong leadership experience in an academic environment and with demonstrated ability in teaching both undergraduate and graduate courses.
