2011 Fossil Fuel Study is Complete

City of Denton Receives Livability Award

City of Denton Courthouse on the SquareThe City of Denton is a recipient for Outstanding Achievement in the City Livability Awards announced June 18 at the 79th annual meeting of the United States Conference of Mayors in Baltimore, Maryland. The recognition is one of the “most prestigious awarded by this organization, and one of the most competitive,” said the conference president, Burnsville Mayor Elizabeth Kautz. For 32 years, cities have competed for the Livability Awards, which this year were decided out of a pool of over 200 cities.

Researchers awarded $600,000 to develop sustainable building materials

nandika d'souza doing research in labFour researchers at University of North Texas have been issued a grant of $600,000 to fund a project that will develop energy-efficient and multifunctional bio-products for construction purposes. The grant is from the National Science Foundation’s Partnership for Innovation program, whose intention is to connect small businesses with researchers in order to convert the advances made by researchers into solutions for the real world. The project is scheduled to begin September 1, 2011.
