[Spring 2011]
Professor Yu is currently looking for a Ph.D. student starting in Fall 2011. The student will work on structural engineering subjects which involve experimental studies, finite element analysis, and structural dynamics analysis. The offer will include monthly stipend for 12 months, health insurance, and up to $5000 tuition per academic year.  Interested students email your resume to cheng.yu@unt.edu.

  Research Interests and Grants

Dr. Yu's research focuses on Thin-Walled, Cold-Formed Steel Structures, Computational Mechanics, Finite Element Method, Earthquake Engineering, Structural Dynamics, Structural Stability, and Sustainable Engineering.

Dr. Yu's research has been funded by National Science Foundation, American Iron and Steel Institute, Steel Stud Manufacturer Association, Metal Building Manufacturer Association, and a number of companies.

Up to November 2010, Dr. Yu has received total $1.7M external research grants, $15K UNT internal research grants, and $20K external education grants.
