Application Requirements
The applicant must hold a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution (students that are completing their final semester at the time of application are eligible to apply). The admissions committee holistically reviews each applicant by considering all components of the application when making an admissions decision. Application files are not complete and will not be processed until all supporting documentation, including the application fee, have been received.
Required official credentials
To be considered for admission, the applicant must submit the following official credentials to the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences Admissions Office:
- Online application (opens November 15th for the 2020 application cycle)
- $50 application fee (waived for McNair scholars with documentation of participation)
- Official transcripts from each and every college/University attended
- Two letters of recommendation
- Resume/CV
- Official test scores (depending on the program of interest): MCAT, DAT, or GRE
- A TOEFL or IELTS score is also required for international applicants
- The reporting code for the GRE or TOEFL is 6909.
- Supplemental materials may be submitted (i.e. personal statement, certificates, etc.) but are not required unless designated by application requirements per program
Pre-Requisite Courses Required
- MS Medical Science Program Pre-Requisite Requirements:
- General or Inorganic Chemistry: at least six credits of course work and two credits of laboratory work
- Biology: at least 12 semester credits of course work and two credits of laboratory work
- Physics: at least six semester credits of course work and two credits of laboratory work
- Organic Chemistry: at least six semester credits of course work and two credits of laboratory work
- English: two 3-credit semester courses
- Statistics: one 3-credit semester course
**Traditional (Research-Based) MS and PhD programs do not have specific pre-requisite courses required, however a strong science background with lab experience is highly recommended.

Program Specific Application Processes
Deadlines
All application materials must be received by the deadline. All application materials submitted become the property of UNT Health Science Center and cannot be returned. Applications are not accepted for Spring semesters.Dual Degree:
- Applicants who are currently enrolled in the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine or School of Health Professions and are applying for the graduate portion of a dual degree program should complete the online application as directed above. Once the application has been submitted, these applicants should then notify the admissions office by emailing our office at gotogradschool@unthsc.edu of the specific dual degree program to which they are applying.
- Students at University of North Texas (UNT) requesting enrollment for classes to transfer to UNT for their degree programs should e-mail their request to gotogradschool@unthsc.edu rather than completing an application.
