RUSTON, La. - The North Texas volleyball team was able to fight off a surging Louisiana Tech squad on Friday night, eventually downing the Lady Techsters in four sets (25-17, 25-20, 17-25, 27-25).

While the Mean Green used a .379 hitting mark to jump out to a quick 2-0 lead in the match, LA Tech turned the tide after the intermission, stringing together enough runs to take the third frame and force extra points in the fourth set.

In what truly was a tale of two halves, LA Tech (6-12, 0-5) came out hot from the halftime intermission, jumping out to an eight-point lead in what ultimately resulted in a 25-17 loss for the Mean Green in set three.

The beginning of the fourth frame was much of the same, as North Texas (12-8, 4-1) found itself down five points in the set's early minutes. But the Mean Green battled back, eventually tying the set at 23-23 before outside hitter Carnae Dillard did what she does best.

The senior captain powered down three kills in the team's final four points, good enough to seal the Mean Green victory. She ended the night with 27 total kills, the most for a four-set match in Conference USA this season. Her .339 hitting percentage was her fifth-best mark of 2015.

Returning to the court for the first time in two weeks, sophomore middle blocker Amanda Chamberlain made an immediate impact, earning four of her eight kills in the first set alone. Additionally, junior setter Amy Henard earned her eighth double-double of the season with her 43 assist, 13 dig performance.

While the contest was closer than head coach Andrew Palileo would've liked, the Mean Green skipper saw Friday's match as the ideal learning opportunity.

"Our team did a good job of hanging in there, coming together and realizing that when the moment comes in the match, you have to be able to step in and make plays."

North Texas will take on Marshall at 12 p.m. CT on Sunday from the Cam Henderson Center in Huntington, W. Va.
