One of the most dominant lineman to play for North Texas, Brandon Kennedy was one of the key elements to North Texas winning four consecutive Sun Belt Conference championships.

Kennedy’s impact at North Texas was immediate. As a freshman, he was named to the Big West All-Conference team, then earned first-team all-conference honors in the Sun Belt three times. He was the league’s Player of the Year in 2002 and 2003 and the Sun Belt Conference Defensive Player of the Year in 2002.

In 2002, Kennedy finished third in the nation with 24 tackles for loss and was named All-America by College Football News. Kennedy topped the league with 10 sacks and was the SBC Player of the Week three times, and he combined with defensive end Adrian Awasom to amass a single-season school-record 45 sacks.

Kennedy followed that up with 20 tackles for loss in his senior season, finishing his North Texas career as the school's all-time leader in tackles for loss with 61. Kennedy is one of only four players in school history to be a four-time all-conference player.

Following his collegiate career, Kennedy signed as a free agent with the Denver Broncos and also spent time with the Detroit Lions, alongside his older brother, defensive back Kenoy Kennedy.

In 2013, Brandon Kennedy was named to the North Texas All-Century football team.
