Stephon Bradberry

What I’d do with $1,000 to Impact UNT: Create a community reflection space where students plant flowers, trees, or other greenery representing their different stories, giving equitable representation to those experiences at the margins of the community

Bio: Stephon Bradberry is a senior graduating May 2019.  He has a passion for community building, social and racial justice, and advocacy that has led him to major in Integrative Studies concentrating in Political science, International Studies, and Sociology; with a minor in African American Studies. Born in Niagara Falls, New York, Stephon moved to Texas nearly 12 years ago, quickly calling Texas, home. He loves hot fries, reading, and re-watching Netflix shows. Stephon's first campus involvement was the University Program Council and he immediately fell in love with the UNT campus community. Since starting at UNT Fall 2014, Stephon has been a member of UNT Greek Life, the Greek Community Board, Project Volunteer, Model International Organization, Student Government Association, an Orientation Leader, Multicultural Center Intern and student coordinator for Eagle Camp. Presently, Stephon has connected passion, purpose, and position as the 6th president of the Black Student Union and Chief of Staff of the Student Government Association. Here, he is able to forge a new way forward for student life, creating a community worthy of its students. At the University of North Texas, Stephon has found his calling, helping young people ignite their own fire, self-determine their own future, and change their own communities.

Eryn Butler

Nominating group: Delta Gamma

Major: Human Development and Family Sciences

What I’d do with $1,000 to Impact UNT: Create a safe space designated for survivors of sexual assault and abuse to speak their truth, display their stories, share common concerns, or meet with a group to bring healing and solidarity.

Bio: Eryn Butler is a senior pursuing a degree in Human Development and Family Sciences, with a minor in Counseling. In her time at UNT, she has served as Vice President of Foundation for Delta Gamma, Assistant Director of Finance for Eaglethon, a site leader for the Alternative Service Breaks program and a proud member for the North Texas 40! She is passionate about social change and innovation and has done research overseas in human trafficking prevention. Outside of UNT, Eryn can found working as a crisis intervention specialist for Denton County Friends of the Family shelter, volunteering in her local community, or chasing her two rescue dogs around. You can often find her singing musical songs across campus, or taking long romantic walks down each aisle of Willis. Eryn is incredibly proud to be a Mean Green Eagle and is so thankful for the incredible experiences that UNT has given her. She has a passion for helping survivors of trauma and hopes to pursue a Masters in Counseling upon graduation in December. With the power of naps and chai tea lattes, Eryn was named Panhellenic Woman of the Year, a Golden Eagle Award recipient, and President's Special Recognition Award Winner.

Misaki Collins

Major: Political Science 

What I’d do with $1,000 to Impact UNT: Improve the campus food pantry by purchasing a freezer for frozen and other perishable foods and a security camera to enable 24/7 operating hours, combatting student food insecurity

Bio: Misaki Collins is currently a senior studying Political Science and Public Administration. During her time at UNT, she has served in Eagle Ambassadors, Student Government Association, Athletic Council, Homecoming Crew, Alternative Service Break, and the Union Board of Directors. She is currently serving as Project VolUNTeer's Director of Community Development, a Student Alumni Ambassador and member of IGNITE. She is currently an intern at the North Central Texas Council of Governments and is passionate about all things community and urban planning. Her dream job is to become a city manager or work for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. During her free time, you can usually find her volunteering with Project VolUNTeer or cheering on the Mean Green at a sporting event. UNT has helped Misaki explore her passions and transformed her in ways she could've never imagined. Misaki is immensely grateful for the opportunities, support, and community UNT has given her and is very humbled to be serving on this year's Homecoming court.

Wilbert (Wil) Cruz

Nominating group: Eagle Ambassadors

Major: Spanish and Communication Studies 

What I’d do with $1,000 to Impact UNT: Invest in the student organization Best Buddies so they can provide more events that will benefit people in the community with intellectual or developmental disabilities 

Bio: I am a senior double majoring in Spanish and Communication Studies, and I serve the University of North Texas as an Eagle Ambassador by welcoming thousands of potential new students and visitors to our beautiful campus. As, a first-generation college student, I embarked on my journey at UNT without any friends or idea what college would be like. I can officially say I have gained a family and developed a huge amount of love for UNT. Throughout my journey, I have participated in Best Buddies, Eagle Ambassadors, the Student Alumni Ambassador Program, and Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity. Due to my hard work, dedication, and pride at UNT, I have been bestowed with the honor of being named the Philanthropy Chair of Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity, selected for the 2018 Pi Kappa Phi Brother of the Year, and 2018 Honorable Mention for Eagle Ambassador. I like cold Dr. Peppers, listening to Gasolina x Daddy Yankee and supporting the Mean Green.

Alexia Johnson

Nominating group: National Association of Black Journalists

Major: Public Relations

What I’d do with $1,000 to Impact UNT: Create a program that places a member of NABJ or NAHJ with NT Daily writers to cover issues affecting either community, giving members necessary job experience to increase their chances of employment and writers exposure to issues affecting underrepresented communities

Bio: Alexia Johnson is a senior majoring in Public Relations and minoring in Psychology, she often attributes her love for talking and knowing a little bit about as her reasoning behind choosing her major. Alexia currently serves as the President of the National Association of Black Journalists and the Public Relations Officer for the Caribbean Student Association. She genuinely enjoys helping students to achieve their goals and serves as a Mayborn School of Journalism Ambassador so that she can do just that. She loves using social media platforms, especially Twitter and hopes to have a job in that field. To prepare herself for that, she currently serves as the Social Media Manager for the North Texas Daily a student-run newspaper. She believes that all UNT students have an opportunity to make a difference once they try.

Muhammad (Mo) Kara

Major: Integrative Studies 

What I’d do with $1,000 to Impact UNT: Create a program whereby low-income middle schoolers are paired up with UNT student-leaders who can serve as positive role models and mentors and show them that college and success are possible

Bio: Muhammad Kara is currently a senior pursuing a degree in Integrative Studies, concentrating in International Studies, Political Science and Public Administration. He currently serves as the Student Government Association President, Chair of the Distinguished Lecture Series, Co-Chair of the Fine Arts Series Committee, a Student Alumni Ambassador and a proud member of NT40. His time on campus varies, from working for different departments to attending meetings in Hurley to conversing with students. Muhammad is a proud member of the Mean Green Family and can be spotted at nearly every University-wide event. He loves supporting UNT, whether through attending an organization's event, musical performances or a sporting event, he will be there! He has a passion for education and hopes to one day work in the department of education focusing on the policy realm. Muhammad wants to revolutionize education and make it more accessible to minorities. Ultimately, I want to make everyone's Mean Green Experience one of a kind. On my off days, I like to grab coffee with friends, play with my cat: Jinx, and thrift. Go Mean Green and Go Homecoming!

Lisa Umeh

Nominating group: Professional Women's Council

Major: Logistics and Supply Chain Management 

What I’d do with $1,000 to Impact UNT:  Address the needs of homeless and financially underprivileged students by planning a free event that allows them to “shop” from donated clothes and gives them a free wash day at a laundromat and a toiletry pack

Bio: Lisa Umeh is a Senior Logistics and Supply Chain Management Major. She has been an active member of the UNT community since her freshman year. She has participated in various leadership spaces on campus, including, co-founding the Professional Women's Council, serving as the 2017-2018 SGA Vice President, being the 2018-2019 Black Student Union Vice President, and being a member of the North Texas 40. She was an Eagle Ambassador and knows what it means to service her community by bleeding green and white.   In addition to her involvement on campus, she is a to-do list connoisseur with an innate drive to leave places better than how she found it.  Between school and organizations, Game of Thrones, Twizzlers, and spending time with friends occupy her time. UNT has offered a sense of support and opportunity for her that she is eternally grateful for. Her tenure has has taught her how be the best version of herself and how to be intentional with every choice that she makes.

Madison Kemrite

What I’d do with $1,000 to Impact UNT:  As UNT is about family, provide a Thanksgiving dinner for approximately nine financially burdened families in the UNT community

Bio: What's up UNT fam!? My name is Madison Kemrite, and I am an Honors Finance student from the great city of Conroe, TX. My UNT story began nearly four decades ago when my parents met in the West Hall lobby (West Hall best hall am I right?!). Although my daddy's legacy on the intramural field has proven impossible to match, I have worked hard to keep the Kemrite family name held in high regard here at UNT. Throughout my time at UNT, I have been involved with the Terry Scholars, the Honors College, the Sports Marketing Association, the North Texas 40, as well as a two-year stent as a Student Worker with the Mean Green football team. These experiences helped lead to internships with the Washington Redskins as well as GE Appliances. Upon graduation, I will be taking my Mean Green pride to Kentucky to start my professional Finance career in GE Appliance's Financial Develop Program. Although this program includes a full-scholarship to Indiana University, know that I will forever be a Mean Green fighting Eagle! Growing up, I knew my family went to UNT. Now, I know my family is UNT. #GMG

Jeffrey Moultry Jr.

What I’d do with $1,000 to Impact UNT:  Create a campus-wide program consisting of a 3-mile ruck march, speeches by former POW’s, and building care packages for soldiers stationed overseas, with the purpose of uniting student veterans and showing other students what soldiers experience

Bio: My name is Jeffery Moultry Jr. I am a Senior here at the University of North Texas majoring in Biology minoring in Chemistry and Military Science. I was born in Landstuhl, Germany on a military installation to two U.S Army enlisted soldiers. I am currently the logistic and supplies staff officer (S-4) for the UNT ROTC Army program which has over 70 cadets. In addition to this, I am also a proud member and President of Kappa Alpha Psi, Fraternity Inc. I also serve as a Black Student Experience Facilitator and a F.L.Y. mentor. Serving my community is my number one priority and I believe that leaders are made not born. My short-term goals in life are to finish pharmacy school and become a pharmacist, while also running my own business. My long-term goal is to become a Major within the United States Army as a Civil affairs or Medical Corps officer, but my ultimate goal is to one day become and United States Senator, so that I may continue to serve my country in my latter days.

Ashley Pickle

Major: Converged Broadcast Media

What I’d do with $1,000 to Impact UNT:  Organize a campus-wide event for International students to help them feel welcomed and to experience the culture of UNT, and to give American students the chance to break out of their comfort zones and make world-wide friendships

Bio: Ashley Pickle is currently a senior perusing a degree in Converged Broadcast Media with a focus in sports broadcasting. She is in her fourth year of working for North Texas Athletics as your Mean Green Emcee. You can find her on the field or court of any Mean Green game hyping up the crowd and cheering for another Mean Green victory and a lit tower at the end of the night. Ashley has also been a part of BEA's number one student-run television station in the nation, North Texas Television, for the past four years as the Assistant Sports Director and now the Marketing Director. She also can be seen on ntTV Nightly News as a Sports Anchor, Sportszone as an analyst, and the desk of Mean Green Gameday before each Mean Green Football home game. Ashley prides herself in bleeding mean green and always leaves any UNT fan with one question, Can I get a Go Mean Green?
