Raj Lama enters his second season with the North Texas women’s tennis team as a volunteer coach. He brings over 30 years of coaching experience and a successful professional playing career.

Lama, the older brother of head coach Sujay Lama, is a certified PTR high performance coach. He has extensive experience coaching in three continents, guiding players of all ages and levels.

Lama coached multiple WTA tour players including Mercedes Paz, Daniella Jones, Nicole Kenneally and Natalie Crutchley. He also coached at various clubs in Germany for 21 years. In addition, he has conducted coaching workshops in Korea, Thailand, Nepal, Germany and all over the United States.

From 2002-03, Lama worked at the Saddlebrook Tennis Academy in Chapel, FL., as a head pro.  Prior to North Texas, Lama was the Director of Tennis at the Gainesville Country Club in Gainesville, FL., for nine years. 

As a tennis player, Lama was the Nepal National Champion from 1975-1980 and the Dubai Open Champion in 1980. 

He represented Nepal in the 1972 Asian games held in Thailand.

Lama received his degree in Business Administration from Ratnarajya College in Kathmandu, Nepal.
