AUSTIN – The North Texas women's golf team began play at the Betsy Rawls Invitational at the UT Golf Club in Austin on Saturday with two rounds of play and now sit in a tie for ninth on the leaderboard heading into Sunday's final round.
North Texas is 24-over par, tied with Yale, after playing through harsh weather conditions in the morning round on Saturday as a cold front moved south through Texas.
"The morning round certainly did not go the way we wanted," UNT coach
Michael Akers said. "The weather conditions affected us. We adjusted and made a huge improvement in the afternoon. We look forward to tomorrow and hope to move up the leaderboard."
The Mean Green improved in the second round on Saturday, shooting a 292 after an opening-round 308, and they were led on the day by senior
Lauren Cox, who is tied for 32nd at 5-over par after two rounds.
Katie Finley is tied for 43rd at 7-over, and freshman
Marija Jucmane is at 8-over and tied for 46th.
