David Farmer PhD, LPC, LMFT

Director of Interprofessional Education and Practice

Bio

David Farmer is the inaugural Director of Interprofessional Education and Practice and an Assistant Professor of Medical Education at the University of North Texas Health Science Center in Fort Worth, Texas. Dr. Farmer began his service at UNTHSC in 2009 as the Director of the UNTHSC Reynolds Geriatrics Education and Training in Texas Program working to integrate geriatrics training into the medical school curriculum, residency training programs, and in continuing medical education for practicing physicians. Dr. Farmer has twenty-three years' experience in the clinical practice of counseling psychology.

Cynthia Carroll MA, LPC

Assistant Director

Bio

Cynthia Carroll earned a Master's degree in clinical/counseling psychology and a Bachelor's degree in psychology. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor with the state of Texas and a certified Master Trainer in TeamSTEPPS ® (Team Strategies and Tools to Enhance Performance and Patient Safety) developed by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ). Cynthia's professional experience includes in-patient substance abuse rehabilitation, personal counseling, emergency department behavioral health, and clinical communications education. Cynthia's role in the Department of IPEP is to support the department director in overseeing the curriculum design and outcomes of interprofessional student education and interprofessional faculty and preceptor development. Additionally, Cynthia coordinates the university's inter-institutional collaborations with Texas Christian University, Texas Wesleyan University, Texas Woman's University, and the University of Texas at Arlington.

Cailyn Alexander

Senior Administrative Coordinator

Bio

Cailyn Alexander has a Bachelor's degree in criminal justice, with a minor in psychology. She comes to the university with years of retail and bank management experience. Cailyn's role with the Department of IPEP is to coordinate and manage department administrative tasks. Cailyn is responsible for department records, contracts, budget preparation and tracking, and equipment and resources inventory. Additionally, Cailyn supports interprofessional education by coordinating with university services (IT, police, room scheduling, and facilities) to manage logistics for all interprofessional education programs.

 


IPE Curriculum Committee

IPEP Curriculum Committee: A committee made up of dean appointed faculty from each college and school participating in interprofessional practice and education.
