We are UNT-based entrepreneurship and venture specialists offer mentoring sessions weekly for entrepreneurs and start-ups in the North Texas region. We work with entrepreneurs and start-ups covering critical areas of importance including Ideation, Functional Skills, First Customers, Pitch and Funding.
FEATURED MENTORS
Steven TudorSteven handles the lifecycle of UNT-owned intellectual property and enjoys working with students and faculty in collaborating with industry partners on research projects. After graduating from the University of Oklahoma with a degree in biomedical science, Steven worked eight years at the Noble Research Institute, then attended Texas A&M School of Law. Prior to joining UNT’s Office of Innovation and Commercialization, he spent over three years within the UT System (including UT Southwestern and UT Arlington) working on research agreements and IP matters in their respective tech transfer offices.
Jon McCarryJon has worked in venture and private equity for more than 15 years and currently serves as Senior Director of UNT’s Murphy Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation. Previously he advised institutional investors and funds throughout the Asia Pacific region, worked as a senior group internal auditor at Nestlé, managed a venture capital portfolio in a Hong Kong and served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He has held board memberships and served in various committees in Hong Kong and Japan. Jon earned his bachelor’s degree in Engineering Physics at UNT, an M.B.A. from Vlerick Management School in Belgium, and completed the Oxford University / Peking University joint Private Equity Programme in China.
Michael RondelliMichael is the Associate Vice President for Innovation and Commercialization at UNT, having previously directed licensing and commercialization at the University of Southern California’s Stevens Center for Innovation and led technology transfer and commercialization efforts at San Diego State University. Prior to his work for universities, Mike worked as a venture capitalist and banking analyst. He earned a law degree from the University of San Diego, an M.B.A. from Texas Christian University and a bachelor’s degree in marketing from Washington University in St. Louis.
Entrepreneurs beyond the ideation phase looking for guidance can apply to the Murphy Center Mentoring Program. Our Mentors bring decades of experience in starting, growing and exiting companies across a range of industries. Participation in the Program requires at least one meeting with the UNT Mentors, followed by an application. All applications are evaluated the first week of every month. Acceptance into the Program is based on the stage of the start-up, experience, goals and fit.
