Student Advising | College of Education

The Student Advising Office assists undergraduate students in the development of a degree plan to help them realize and achieve their academic goals. Students choose their major advisor who will work with them toward the completion of their degree. Services include but are not limited to:

New Student Orientations
Clarification of UNT policies and procedures
Clarification of College of Education policies and procedures
Choosing a major and/or minor and/or certificate

Advising and counseling appointments
Creation and maintenance of degree plans
Informational sessions
Referrals for university services such as tutoring and mentoring, financial aid and scholarships, disability accommodation, job-hunting, etc.

The semester prior to your graduation, meet with your Academic Advisor to complete a graduation check and confirm your remaining courses and grades needed to meet graduation requirements.

Then, I became a member of the UNT community in 2011. I earned my Master's of Education in Higher Education degree in May 2013, at which time, I joined the College of Education Student Advising Office team.

Dr. Gwenn Pasco, the Senior Assistant Dean for Educator Certification and Undergraduate Programs, came to the College of Education at the University of North Texas from New York City. She was born in the Bronx, NYC and grew up on Long Island in New York. Having worked as a Dean of the Junior Class, an Associate Dean of Students, and a Director of Residence Life and Housing, she has a had a solid background in student services and student affairs. Her philosophy of developmental student advising is that it is a partnership between a student and advisor, the purpose of which is to develop an educational plan compatible with life goals. In her free time, Dr. P enjoys sketching, painting and inventing, and she is a long standing Pittsburgh Steelers fan.
