The Office of the Provost at each campus monitors and manages faculty salaries to support recruitment and retention of academic experts for teaching and research. The provost also oversees policies and procedures for tenure and promotion. Supplemental pay is available, but must be approved by Human Resources and the appropriate executive prior to assignment. Longevity pay is available to staff after 24 months of employment, according to State of Texas law. Employees receive $20 per month longevity pay in incremental amounts with a maximum of $420 after 505 months of employment.
Staff employees are compensated for overtime worked in accordance with the federal Fair Labor Standards Act of 1938, as amended, and the Texas General Appropriations Act. FLSA classification is assigned by Human Resources when a new job is created or when a job's duties are significantly revised.
