Each year the Department of Mathematics teaches thousands of students at all levels, from developmental math to advanced graduate classes. Many of our graduates become teachers themselves, or apply what they learned in a wide variety of occupations. Society overall benefits by the fundamental and applied research conducted by our faculty, postdocs and graduate students. Events like the Math Club or the Undergraduate Colloquium provide a link between the research and the teaching mission of the department.
