Valet Service

UNT community members have a new option for safe, quick parking on campus with a valet service that started on Monday, Jan. 7.

The addition of this service provides you with an easy way to get parking in the center of campus.

The valet service, located in front of the Union, will be available from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Valet differs from self-parking in the garages in that you can drop off your car quickly and have an attendant park it for you allowing you the ability to get on campus faster.

Prices for the service from Monday through Thursday are:

  • 0-2 hours - $4
  • 2-5 hours (half day) - $8
  • 5 or more hours (full day) - $14

Starting on March 29, we’re introducing half-price Fridays, when the above prices will be 50 percent off.

The service, run by Parking Systems of America professional valet service, repurposes available parking without taking away any permitted student, faculty or staff parking.

The process is simple. Drivers pull up in front of the Union into the lane marked “Valet.” They get out and give the valet their keys and get on with their day. When they’re done, they return to the valet stand, where a professional valet will retrieve their vehicle, give them their total and, once they’ve paid at the valet stand, return their vehicle and keys to them.

If a driver is running late and doesn’t get to the valet stand before 5 p.m., Parking Services of America will have an option for them to retrieve their vehicle. Parking Systems of America will send the customer a text at 4:30 p.m. reminding them that the service ends at 5 p.m. After 4:45 p.m., they will make reminder calls for anyone who has not made other arrangements.

The service is open to anyone on the UNT campus, including students, faculty, staff and visitors and will offer an addition option to ensure that members of the UNT community can focus on what matters without worrying about being late because they were searching for parking.

FAQ

  1. How is this different from just using the parking garage? The valet service is similar to garage parking, with the biggest difference being convenience. Rather than having to park in UCG, log in to Parkmobile and then walk out of the garage to get to class, UNT community members can drop their vehicle off with the valet and get to where they need to go quickly and efficiently.

  2. Where is the money going? The money goes to Parking Systems of America, the company providing the valets and the service.

  3. Why don’t you just add more parking? We are adding more parking, out at Fouts Field. That project is expected to be finished around Fall 2019 and will add several hundred more parking spaces.

  4. How does this help the UNT community? This program will give campus community members one more option to ensure that they are able to focus on the things that matter, like their getting to their classes or work quickly, without worrying about being late or finding a parking spot.

  5. Can people leave vehicles with the valet overnight?  No.

  6. If someone uses valet and doesn’t leave until after 5 p.m., how do they get their vehicle? If a driver is running late and doesn’t get to the valet stand before 5 p.m., Parking Services of America will have an option for them to retrieve their vehicle. Parking Services of America will send the customer a text at 4:30 p.m. reminding them that the service ends at 5 p.m. After 4:45 p.m., they will make reminder calls for anyone who has not made other arrangements.

  7. What happens if something happens to my car? Parking Systems of America is insured to take financial responsibility for any damages they cause. You will need to inform the valet of any damage that you notice and a claim will be started.

  8. Are the drivers background checked? Parking Systems of America screens all of their employees. They also operate services out of Love Field, Presbyterian Hospital Campus, Hotel Crescent Court, Toyota Music Factory and others.

  9. Are the drivers experienced or are they students? They’re employees of Parking Systems of America.

  10. Are there any vehicles that can’t be used at valet? Motorcycles, vehicles that are unable to fit in the garage (i.e. lifted vehicles) and vehicles with ADA modifications to the driving apparatus would be ineligible for the service.

  11. What forms of payment are accepted? Cash and credit card are accepted. Credit cards will be run through a handheld device at the valet stand.

  12. Do you have to specify how long you you’re going to be there at the beginning of your session? If so, what if you go over the time you specified (i.e. meeting runs late, etc.)? The user will be asked for how long.  If they run over and their time runs into the next pay range, they will be charged the extra amount.

  13. Is tipping expected? Tipping is not expected, but tips will be accepted if offered.
