Sarah Moore Oliphant’s experience includes work in urban communities including St. Louis, Missouri and Washington, DC; in rural Utah through a Department of Justice Rural Domestic Violence federal grant, and in international communities in Central and South America and the Philippines.

She has experience in domestic violence & sexual assault services, program evaluation, grant writing, and international social development. She has previously served as the Assistant Editor of the Journal of Religion and Spirituality in Social Work: Social Thought.

Dr. Oliphant joined the Social Work Department at UNT after serving on the faculty of The Catholic University of America in Washington, DC. She has also taught at George Mason University, Radford University, Brigham Young University, and Utah Valley University. One of her favorite former roles was directing a program that connected social work students with international summer experiences in the Philippines, Vietnam, and Nicaragua.

Dr. Oliphant serves as the President of the Global Awareness Society International, an interdisciplinary global organization promoting peace and global understanding.  She has taken students for the past three years to this conference and hopes to have student presenters from UNT join her at this year’s conference in Morocco.
