Jimmy Renfro, M.Ed., NCC, serves as the Director of the Career Center. He has nearly 20 years of experience in various facets of higher education administration and student support services and has been at UNTHSC since December 2009. In his current role, he oversees the general operations of the Center, including the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS) and Medical Student Performance Evaluation (MSPE) processes for medical students applying to residency, and contributes to student career development initiatives and advising for all UNTHSC academic disciplines. Jimmy’s philosophy of the individual career journey is that the experience should more resemble “playing on the playground, not climbing a ladder!”After a stint in the corporate world as an oil & gas accountant, Jimmy has held previous positions as both Director of Student Leadership & Organizations and as Director of Disability Accommodations for the University of North Texas (UNT), as well as the Assistant Director for Leadership in the Center for Student Development at Texas Woman’s University. Jimmy holds a Master of Education degree in Counseling from UNT and a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Accounting from Sam Houston State University. Jimmy is a National Certified Counselor and holds the distinction of Certified Master of Career Services through the National Career Development Association. Jimmy is highly involved in his community, and has served on numerous professional and civic boards including the Metroplex Area Consortium of Career Centers, North Central Texas InterLink, the Denton Wesley Foundation, and the Denton Hi-Noon Lions Club.

Nancy Eanes, B.S., is currently the Assistant Director for the UNTHSC Career Center. She has over 15 years of higher education experience working in career advising and employer relations at UNT Denton and UNTHSC.  Nancy supports the School of Health Professions, UNT System College of Pharmacy, and the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine by providing values-based advising, CV and personal statement reviews, and interview preparation workshops. Nancy conducts Perfecting Professional Presence (P3) workshops that focus on professional protocol and etiquette.  She is convinced that how you treat others and how you conduct yourself professionally are not casual imperatives.  Nancy understands that in today’s business environment, professional protocol and good manners mean satisfied patients/customers and strong business relationships.After graduating from Kansas State University, Nancy began her professional career working for the American Cancer Society-Texas Division as a Field Representative, supporting twelve volunteer boards of directors in the Houston area. She was promoted to the position of Assistant Director for Public Education in the Dallas office.  Nancy worked with physicians, nurses, registered dieticians, public health professionals, and other medical professionals in promoting cancer awareness and preventative health education.

Lydia Negron, M.A, is currently a Career Consultant for the UNTHSC Career Center. She has 10+ years in Higher Ed with five plus years working in Career Services for the State of Missouri. In her current role, she provides resources, develops programs, and provides advising that assist with the development of present and future careers that facilitate job placement. Lydia supports the School of Public Health (SPH) and the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences (GSBS) in assisting with career-related programs such as Specialty Round Tables, Career Forums and Seminars, Networking Events, Job Fairs, Student Employment, Job Boards, and providing values-based advising, CV and personal statement reviews, and interview preparation workshops. She is convinced that networking key! Her networking philosophy has four components: 1. Be strategic, 2. See networking as an opportunity to create real relationships, 3. Figure out how you can help people as soon as possible and 4. Be mindful about keeping in touch. Lydia is currently working on her Ed D in Leadership Development, holds a Masters of Art in Human Resources and Management from Webster University and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Computer Science from Texas Christian University. She hails from an Air Force family and was commissioned as an Air Force Officer following graduation from TCU. Following her time in the military, she began working for the State of Missouri in various capacities with her last five years spent in the Career Services industry as a Veteran’s Representative, Employer Relations Specialist and Workforce Commission committee member. The opportunity to transition to Higher Ed presented itself and she took the plunge! Lydia worked in Testing Services at the University of Central Missouri till she relocated to Texas in 2010. She continues her time in Higher Ed at UNTHSC with a background in the Center for Academic Performance (CAP) office as a Testing Specialist and now as a Career Consultant. Lydia is community focused as a member of the Metroplex Area Consortium of Career Centers, a member of her neighborhood watch programs, volunteers at a local veterinary clinic as a Spanish-to-English translator and assists with youth programs at her church.
