Campus Computing, December 2016

The new mobile app for UNT students is available now from iTunes or Google Play, for either iPhone or Android. The app, built by DubLabs, LLC, based in Vienna, Va., allows students to access UNT services information while on the go, according to a recent announcement by Neal Smatresk, UNT president.

"The app allows our students to access the things they need from UNT while on the go," Smatresk said. Since it is integrated online with my.unt.edu and Blackboard Learn, students now have one app to access the most requested features and information.

Currently-enrolled students can access notifications of their final fall grades, find their class locations each semester, learn about university events and handle other university business through the app. They can even connect with faculty and easily access contact information for other important student services. Students also can enable automatic push notifications to stay updated about occurrences in Blackboard Learn grades, announcements, discussions and assignments. The app also gives faculty a great tool to help students stay on track with their coursework.

Later this spring, more features will be added that include giving students the ability to register for classes, view financial aid and pay their tuition bill within the app. The team working on the project includes members from the following areas as well as many others across the system.
• ITSS, UNT System: Dorothy Flores, senior app development director; Robert Jones, ERP application development director; Mohammad Mobashirin, IT project manager
• UNT Enrollment: Shannon Goodman, vice president; Kenneth Moffitt, senior director, and others from offices such as Admissions, Registrar and Financial Aid
• URCM: Chauncey Cox, communications specialist

The app provides full mobility for all student functions so they easily can work from their mobile device as part of UNT's “anytime-anywhere” strategy. Students will benefit from the ease, accessibility and convenience of the app for updates to help them stay better connected to the university.

Employees also can download the app to familiarize themselves with this important new tool, which includes maps with point-to-point directions to all locations on campus.
